✦ On Today’s Stage
Although full productions of Gayane are performed less often than some classical favorites, the ballet remains an important part of Armenian cultural heritage. Selections from the work, especially the famous "Sabre Dance," continue to appear in gala performances, concerts, and orchestral programs around the world.

✦ Iconic Interpreters
Since its 1942 premiere, Gayane has been performed by generations of dancers from the Kirov (Mariinsky) Ballet and other companies. The title role demands both dramatic acting and strong classical technique, while the ballet's energetic folk-inspired dances remain a showcase for ensemble performers.

✦ Legacy
Gayane helped introduce Armenian music and culture to international audiences through the work of composer Aram Khachaturian. Its unforgettable score—especially the "Sabre Dance"—became one of the most recognizable pieces of twentieth-century ballet music. More than eighty years after its premiere, the ballet continues to be celebrated for its vibrant blend of classical ballet, folk traditions, and cultural pride.
